AIMEE SMITH-ZEOLI: DIRECTOR/LEAD TEACHER

Aimee has a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and Social Work from Westfield State College. She has a Master Degree in Psychology from Springfield College.

Her experience begins with the Massachusetts Department of Social Services, where she specialized in working with abused and neglected children. While obtaining her master’s degree, she operated a successful home-based Daycare so that she could be engaged in the early education of her own children.

In her quest to find a preschool for her daughter, she became involved in Old Deerfield Nursery School. Aimee held a position with the Board of Directors for six years both as a parent representative and as a community member after her daughter graduated from ODNS.

Although the daycare was successful, when her son was school age she decided to close the daycare and seek employment outside the home. She was happily hired by Old Deerfield Nursery School as a certified preschool teacher.

Over the years, Aimee has become an active member of several local committees dedicated to the education and well being of young children. She was elected to the Sunderland Elementary School Committee in 2005 and remains a member today. She also holds the position of secretary of the Sunderland Elementary PTO and has been a member of the Community Partnership for Children for the past 3 years.

Aimee continues to stay abreast of the latest research and information regarding the education and health of young children by attending numerous conferences and trainings through out the year.

Her history of working with children in so many different capacities gives Aimee a broad knowledge and understanding in working with all children and families. She is very well liked by those that work with her and adored by her students. It is obvious that Aimee loves working with her students. She has created a warm and safe classroom where children feel free to explore and play while their self esteem is nurtured and their natural love of learning is encouraged.
